A 34-year-old Iranian man who attempted to enter a Royal Navy nuclear submarine base in Scotland will face no legal proceedings, authorities have confirmed.

The man had been charged following an incident on 19 March 2026, but was later released pending further inquiries without appearing in court.

The Crown Office stated: "The Procurator Fiscal received a report relating to a 34-year-old man and an incident said to have occurred on 19 March 2026."

"After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the procurator fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time."

The Crown Office added that it reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.

The incident took place at Faslane, located on the Gare Loch approximately 25 miles north-west of Glasgow. The base is home to the Royal Navy's nuclear-powered submarine fleet, including the UK's four Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarines, which carry Trident nuclear missiles.

The March arrest came several weeks after the United States and Israel carried out attacks on Iran at the end of February.
