Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday in his first speech before the world body since the outbreak of the conflict between Iran and the United States.

His address came a day after US President Donald Trump told the UNGA that he could "annihilate the Islamic Republic" and "drive them into hell."

Pezeshkian traveled to New York as the US-Iran war continues. Iran was expected to use the address to press its case over the conflict and to seek diplomatic avenues aimed at easing tensions.

The speech marks Pezeshkian's first appearance at the UN General Assembly since the United States and Israel launched military operations against his country.
