Russian drones struck a border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova in the southern Odesa region, killing at least two civilians and injuring three others, Ukrainian authorities said on Wednesday.
The attack targeted the area near the Starokozache crossing, Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper said in a Telegram post. Passenger and vehicle traffic across the border were temporarily halted after the strike caused a large fire.
Russian drones also struck Kyiv overnight, causing fires but no casualties, emergency services said. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a drone strike on a 16-storey building early on Wednesday, saying emergency responders were dispatched to the site.
Moscow resumed near-constant air attacks on Kyiv on Tuesday after a brief halt during a visit by US peace negotiators. Officials said five people were killed in the capital during that renewed wave of strikes.
The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces had struck a Ukrainian cargo vessel carrying military equipment in the Black Sea, en route to the port of Odesa, as well as a warehouse in Kyiv allegedly belonging to a company manufacturing drones, according to Russian news agencies.
Russian air strikes also damaged port, transport and civilian infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region, killing one person and leaving several others injured, a local official said on Telegram.
The Russian Defence Ministry separately said its forces had shot down 596 Ukrainian drones overnight.
In Russia, four people were killed in Novorossiysk in the southern Krasnodar region, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram. Mayor Andrei Kravchenko said drone debris fell on the premises of a number of businesses and close to an inhabited building in the city late on Tuesday.
Ukrainian authorities confirmed attacks in the area. The commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, said military vessels at a naval base in Novorossiysk were hit overnight. Brovdi said missile carriers were among the vessels lost at the base but did not specify how many had been struck.
Novorossiysk is a frequent target of Ukrainian drone strikes and serves as a major export outlet for Russian oil, oil products, grain and other commodities.
