French PM Promises Action as Student Protests Force Hundreds of Schools to Close

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has pledged to address student concerns after a wave of protests forced hundreds of schools across the country to close.

Students have taken to the streets demanding better school conditions and more teachers. Despite the prime minister's speech on Wednesday, in which he said the government would produce a plan to address their concerns, students have vowed to continue demonstrating.

Criticism has also grown over the way police have been handling the protests.

Political parties in France have been responding to the movement as the country approaches elections.
