Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Monday that it launched ballistic missile attacks on two U.S. military bases in Jordan, in response to a U.S. strike on Iran's Larak Island.

The IRGC said it targeted the King Hussein and Al Azraq U.S. bases, according to Iranian media.

The U.S. strike on Larak Island targeted two rocket launchers that U.S. Central Command said were preparing to launch naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB said the attack killed and wounded several Iranian fighters and civilians.

A U.S. official said Iranian missiles launched in retaliation had been intercepted, while Jordan's military said it intercepted eight missiles that entered its airspace.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran was "not looking for war" but would "never sit still in the face of any aggression."
